A typical Stripe decline at the ElevenLabs checkout. Reconstruction of the checkout screen, not a screenshot.

You pick an ElevenLabs plan, enter a card that works elsewhere, and the payment is declined. ElevenLabs takes card payments through Stripe, so the message on screen is usually Stripe's short "Your card was declined." and says almost nothing about the cause. This guide covers what ElevenLabs accepts, what its help centre says about failed payments, the free fixes to try first, and what to do if none of them work.

What ElevenLabs says about payments

From the ElevenLabs help centre (checked 10 October 2026):

  • Accepted methods. The page What kind of payment is accepted? lists credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and "UPI (India only)".
  • Prepaid cards. The same page says: "While you can try using a prepaid card, it is not something we directly support. We have encountered issues with the issuing banks and Stripe blocking such payments." Its advice if that fails: "try using another card or explore an alternative payment method altogether."
  • Why payments fail. Why is my payment failing? names three reasons: the payment was not verified with your bank, your bank declined it, or there were insufficient funds.
  • Currency. Customers located in India can pay in Indian rupees, and the INR option appears automatically at checkout. "Customers in all other countries will continue to be charged in USD."

On Stripe's side, a generic decline can hide several reasons the merchant is told not to show you separately, and merchants can block prepaid cards with a rule on the card's funding type (docs.stripe.com/radar/rules/supported-attributes). So a prepaid card with money on it can still fail.

What to try first

  1. Complete the bank verification. ElevenLabs says the extra step after checkout "is a requirement from your bank or payment processor". Keep your bank app or SMS open and approve the request in time. If none arrives, ask the bank to enable 3D Secure for online payments.
  2. Read your bank app, not the checkout screen. Most banks log the refused attempt with a reason: foreign merchant blocked, limit reached, verification failed. That tells you more than any decline code.
  3. Turn on online and international payments for the card in your bank app. Many banks issue cards with these off. For a USD charge, also check the card's foreign-currency limit.
  4. Use a regular debit or credit card instead of a prepaid or virtual one. ElevenLabs says prepaid cards are tried at your own risk.
  5. Try Apple Pay or Google Pay with a different card. Each has conditions. Apple Pay needs an Apple device, with Safari on a Mac. Google Pay needs Chrome and a card already saved in Google Pay, and ElevenLabs says it is not available in India. ElevenLabs also notes that Google may not be able to verify your card if you are connected to a VPN, so switch any VPN off before paying.
  6. In India, use UPI or rupee billing. If you are located in India, the INR option and UPI should appear at checkout.
  7. Check your billing details. In ElevenLabs, go to your Subscription page, click Billing, then Manage billing information, and make sure the name and address match what your bank has.
  8. Don't retry ten times. Repeated attempts in a row can trigger fraud blocks at the bank. Try once after each fix, and write to ElevenLabs support if a fix that should work still fails.

For a renewal that fails on an existing plan, add a new card first: ElevenLabs says you cannot remove the default card during an active subscription, but you can add a new payment method, set it as default and then remove the old one. The same Stripe causes apply to other tools; see "Your card does not support this type of purchase", Suno payment failed and Cursor payment failed.

When nothing works: we pay it for you

Paidrelay pays subscriptions on your own account, and you pay us in crypto. ElevenLabs is not in our fixed catalog, so you order it as Other service:

  1. You type the plan price into the order form. Your total is the plan price plus our 15% fee, shown as one number before you pay.
  2. You send us the payment link from the ElevenLabs checkout. We pay it with our card, and the plan is applied to your own ElevenLabs account.
  3. If there is no link to share, sign-in is the last resort: you stay online with us, send the verification code yourself, and change your password afterwards. Sharing a login breaks most services' terms, and the account could be restricted. You decide whether to accept that.

We pay the plan you order, nothing more. Personal plans only: team seats and API credits are not sold. Our card stays on the subscription for renewals until you change it, using the steps above.

Delivery is usually within 2 hours of payment confirmation, 09:00–21:00 UTC, and at most 24 hours. If we can't complete the payment for your plan, we refund the full amount you paid, in the same coin, minus only the network fee of the refund transfer. We do not serve Russia, Belarus, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Syria or Venezuela. Coins and networks are on paying in crypto.

Questions

Does ElevenLabs accept prepaid cards?

Not officially. ElevenLabs says you can try a prepaid card, but it is not something they directly support, because issuing banks and Stripe have blocked such payments. If it fails, use another card or another payment method.

Can I pay ElevenLabs with UPI or in rupees?

Yes, if you are located in India. ElevenLabs says the INR option appears automatically at checkout for customers in India and that UPI is supported there. Customers in other countries are charged in USD.

Why is ElevenLabs trying to charge me after I cancelled?

ElevenLabs cancels at the end of the current billing cycle. If you cancel after a new cycle has already started, even with the new invoice unpaid, the subscription runs until the end of that new cycle, so a payment attempt can still come.

How does Paidrelay pay for ElevenLabs?

ElevenLabs is an other-service order. You send us the payment link from the ElevenLabs checkout and we pay it with our card, so the plan lands on your own account. Sign-in is a last resort, done while you are online, and you change the password afterwards. Our card stays on the subscription for renewals until you change it.

What happens if you can't pay my ElevenLabs plan?

If we can't complete the payment for your plan, we refund the full amount you paid, in the same coin, minus only the network fee of the refund transfer.
