Pay for Claude Pro or Max with USDT (no card)

Claude does not take crypto. Anthropic's help centre says: "We accept credit cards and debit cards for all purchases." It adds that "we do not accept third-party payment processors such as PayPal or Venmo." If you hold your savings in USDT, or your local card is refused, that leaves two practical ways to pay for Claude Pro or Max with crypto: have someone buy an official gift for you and pay them in USDT, or get a card that spends your crypto. This page explains both, starting with how the first one works with us.

Why you can't pay Anthropic in USDT directly

Claude subscriptions are charged by card through Stripe, and Anthropic's payment page lists no crypto option. What you can do without a card on your side is redeem a Claude gift subscription: someone on Pro or Max buys a gift of Pro, Max 5x or Max 20x for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, and you redeem it on your own account. No card is needed to redeem. That gift is what we buy for you.

Which networks and coins

Every network has its own address. Sending USDT on a network other than the one in your quote, for example ERC-20 to a TRC-20 address, can lose the funds, so copy the address from the order page and double-check the network in your wallet. Stablecoins are counted 1:1 with the dollar; for other coins the quote converts the dollar total at the rate when you open the checkout. More on paying in crypto.

What you receive, and when

• What: an official Claude gift link, sent by email to the address on the order. You redeem it on the web; the plan runs on your own account, with your chats and settings untouched.
• When: usually within 2 hours of payment confirmation, 09:00–21:00 UTC; at most 24 hours.
• Refund: "If we can't complete the payment for your plan, we refund the full amount you paid, in the same coin, minus only the network fee of the refund transfer." This covers the case where we can't buy your gift. It does not cover things that happen after the gift is delivered.
• Gift validity: Anthropic's gifts expire 365 days after purchase, so redeem yours soon after it arrives.

Or get a crypto card yourself?

The other route is a card that spends crypto: a prepaid or debit card from an exchange or crypto wallet that you top up with USDT. When it works, it is cheaper per month than paying anyone a fee. The catches:

• Merchants can refuse card types. Stripe lets any merchant write Radar rules on card_funding ("Whether the card is a prepaid, debit, or credit card.") and on the mismatch between the card's country and your IP address. Some crypto cards are issued as prepaid cards, sometimes in a different country from where you live. We don't know Anthropic's rules, but if such a card fails, you'll see a plain "Your card was declined." with no reason. See Claude card declined.
• Billing country. Anthropic requires the card's billing address to be in a supported country, and even small address differences can trigger a decline.
• Setup. Identity verification, an issuing fee in some cases, and top-up or conversion fees. You find out whether Claude accepts it only after you have paid for the card.
• Renewals. A card subscription renews monthly, so the card has to stay funded and keep working every month.
